The research carried out at CIRCe is focussed on the multi-scale characterization and understanding of cement and its applications
Current research lines:
- Role of superplasticizers and other admixtures on the rheology, performance, durability and hydration kinetics of cement
- Numerical modelling and simulation of the hydration kinetics, microstructural development and processes of nucleation and growth of the hydrates
- Optimization of materials and protocols for the restoration and consolidation of historical buildings
- Analysis and characterization of historical mortars
- Use of fibres for structural stabilization
- Thermal properties of geothermal grouts
- Solidification/stabilization of contaminated soils
- Development and understanding of green cement-based materials
